Divine Glory

"Divine Glory" Acrylic on Canvas 40 x 30

The idea of a divinity that is able to create a life of fullness was my inspiration for this angel, “Divine Glory.”  This work is about spreading the glory of the divine – a realm without limitations – creating a full sense of happiness that fills us when we allow a greater power to enter our lives and our spirit.  There is a sense of abundance in this painting that calls us to enjoy our lives, smile more often, and bask in the greatness that is all around us.  I have to admit that this is a terrific work.  I had it on display locally over the holidays and it gave many people feelings of gladness.  It has the most amazing uplifting energy.

As we start the New Year, we can look at achieving our greatest goals.  But, perhaps, the greater glory lies in the inherent ability to feel happy and complete – right here, right now.  So, I’ve been thinking that change is great, and goal-setting is a good way to measure accomplishment; yet, it is in being tied to spirit and sensing a connection to our soulness that really makes us feel truly whole.

Inner Splendor

“Inner Splendor”  28 x 22 Acrylic on Canvas

I believe there is a correlation between the macro and the micro. What is reflected in the smallest elements is also seen in the larger scheme. The innate life force, the movement towards growth, is seen in both the smallest seed and the largest trees. There is also the force behind emotions and feelings that creates its own energy. It is the way each of us can lift the energy of the world by feeling joyful within ourselves. The happiness we feel spills over onto others – and, from there it grows exponentially. There are so many reasons we can all name to feel low about ourselves. But, the journey to inner splendor – of feeling innate joy and self-acceptance - will change us at the cellular level and, as it grows in ourselves and in others, we can change the world.

Inspiration's Gift

"Inspiration's Gift" 20x16 Acrylic on canvas

Where does inspiration come from? Some believe that inspiration is found in the experiences and imagination within each of us. I also wonder if inspiration is given to us in moments when God (the Universe, the Source…), touches us with thoughts and ideas that seem to come out of nowhere. This angel is part of the sense of wonder – and is meant to offer inspiring dreams and wishes.

Sometimes, it seems that our world feels stagnant. There seems to be a lot of talking about working out problems or issues in the same old way that didn’t work in the past! Without new and fresh ideas, we could not grow as a society or as individuals. So, when we, or someone else, think of a new way of dealing with our lives or of solving some situation, there is a renewed feeling of aliveness. It’s about the creative energy that many of us bury as we go about our daily lives. But, in a moment of inspiration, we awaken to all the abundance this world has to offer – and to the gift of inspiration.

This angel celebrates that moment when we think of things in a new way – when we change the world, maybe even in small ways, by letting new possibilities grow within us.

Compassion

The Vision of Angels are continuing to find their way throughout North America, Central America, and Europe. I just finished six donation paintings for the children at St. Jude’s Hospital and I need to make many more! Sometimes, it seems like a juggling act to get it all done. But, I like knowing that the children will have their own little “Angel of Comfort” to help see them through the ordeal of getting back to being well.

My latest work deals with compassion, called “Compassion’s Arrival.” When I look at the news lately, we seem to be in a time where there are too many divisions between people. When, in fact, people are pretty much the same everywhere we go. Politics is often focused on a position. But, behind fighting, war, and strife, are real people. When we remove others and ourselves from labels, we can see that all people deserve compassion. The angels point to the highest thought of who we are – our inherent divineness within our human qualities.

What would this world be like if we all remembered our spirit, the best part of ourselves, rather than looking at differences, being afraid, angry, etc..?

The works from this series are my service to those causes that are about being bigger than ourselves – of a remembrance that we are all of the divine.
